Timberland Regional Library at your fingertips

Book lovers on the go can access their favorite titles from anywhere with the Timberland Regional Library mobile application.

Available on Android and iOS, the Timberland Regional Library (TRL) updated mobile app comes with an abundance of features, including granting patrons access to the library cards and accounts online.

“One of the most important things for TRL during the ongoing pandemic was to find a way to continue to provide our patrons with access to materials and services,” said Timberland Regional Library Deputy Director Kendra Jones. “With so many people turning to the internet and mobile apps for shopping and meals, we felt updating our mobile app was an effective way to help accomplish that goal.”

After downloading the app, patrons can browse or search for titles even before logging in. Once they log in, they have full account access to view checked out materials, place holds for pick up, and use links to a range of social media platforms.

Useful features of the TRL mobile app include a built-in scanner and GPS. Patrons can scan any book's barcode or International Standard Book Number (ISBN) to see if it is available in the TRL catalog.

GPS will locate the nearest Timberland library, where patrons can use the same barcode that they searched for contactless checkout.

“The mobile app makes it incredibly easy to search our collection from almost anywhere,” Jones said.

TRL’s “Plan Your Visit” feature is available on the app, as well as their new employment eResources information directly from their website, and library location pages. Users can customize their layout preferences and language.

“It is a convenient place for patrons to check their local branch for up-to-date information about hours and closures,” Jones said.

Other apps that can be used to search for materials include Overdrive, which is also available on the TRL website, and the Libby app by Overdrive.

Both Overdrive and Libby can be used to search for ebooks, audiobooks and other materials with a current library card. Overdrive has more accessibility features, while Libby is faster and simpler to navigate. Both are available on Android and iOS.
